Alessandra De Paula Alves Sousa, PhD, is a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) in Bethesda, Maryland. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Ceará, Brazil, and a PhD in Immunogenetics and Stem Cell Transplantation from the Ribeirão Preto School of Medicine, University of São Paulo, Brazil. Dr. De Paula Alves Sousa previously conducted postdoctoral research at Imperial College London, United Kingdom, before joining NINDS.

Charles J. Malemud earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Long Island University in 1966 and obtained his Ph.D. from George Washington University in 1973. He completed postdoctoral training in experimental pathology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1977. Since then, Dr. Malemud has been a faculty member at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, where he currently holds the positions of Professor of Medicine & Anatomy in the Division of Rheumatic Diseases and Senior Investigator in the Arthritis Research Laboratory.

His research focuses on developing innovative immunotherapy treatments for advanced cancers. He earned his PhD from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and brings valuable industry experience from his role as a Research Investigator at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he contributed to the development of immuno-oncology drug therapies.
